When icterus has been present for any length of time, it will discolor many tissues and will become visible as jaundice on most body surfaces, including the skin. WebThe sclera has detectable icterus when the serum bilirubin is greater than 3 to 4 mg/dl, and the plasma is icteric when the serum bilirubin is greater than 1.5 to 2 mg/dl. Note.
